    HI,

I have an old (5year) netgear router that needs to be rebooted every day so need a new one.

Main uses - wired network so gigabit with 4 ports needed. wireless N would be a plus but only use G laptop for surfing. all other items (nas, popcorn, pc are wired)
    On a bt adsl2 6mb connection.

had a d-link 2740b one in mind but reviews are not great.

any recommendations folks - so many of them.

    thx
    k

    saw that - thx

I will have a Netgear ReadyNas (10/100/1000 ethernet), a pc (gigabit mb), popcorn hour a-100 , all connected by cat5.

so, was going with a netgear dgn2000 - is there a need to upgrade to a gigabit modem router with this setup - even for the transfer of files from the pc to the nas.
can't find a similar-to-router as the dgn2000 that has gigabit capability.

One review says it does not support DHCP - deal breaker ???

I think I saw that comment where the poster said it didnt support DHCP, no, what it doesnt support is DHCP reservation, different thing, cant see it being a problem for you. I have also read other reviews that do complain about the poor wireless signal, although you're on wireless G so again range wont really be a problem.

It comes with a "media server" adapter to convert one of the gigabit ports into a USB storage connection, although seeing as you have a NAS already...

the only thing that would bother me personally is that you cant use both wireless broadcast signals at the same time, what I call "my network" and "guest network" on the belkin router I have.

Also, you wont get the benefit of the gigabit ports unless you use cat 6 cable (i bought mine on a roll so i made up my own, but you should avoid the likes of currys, pcworld- overpriced cat 6 cable, belkin as it happens!)

    hope this helps...
