Im not into clubs and am abit shy when it comes to the local and chatting up new people. I look the part and very interested in meeting someone new and need advice on where you would start. Thanks

Why don't you join some sort of group? Have a look in the Arts section of Boards. There's a drama group which has an open door policy. I find that if you are all meeting for a reason e.g. drama it's easier to fit in than say a dating website where if you meet up with someone you might feel under some pressure as the only reason you're there is to be on a date. Nice bunch too in the drama group.
They're based in Dublin so if you're not then it may not be much use to you. I'm sure there's something in your own area though.
    Good luck

The best way IMHO is to approach it like you would friendship.

If you are shy with women get comfortable socialising with girls like lunch with female colleagues and coffe with female friends.

another thing I posted on another thread is give compliments -if a woman has bought something that is flattering tell them or has a nice haircut say it.

There if always a danger of being in "friend zone" but I think the best way to meet females is to widen your circle of female friends. Try approaching the situation by looking for female friends/spending more time ladies etc... rather than approaching it as looking for an OH.

You'll start to notice that you will end up going out more and more and the circle of friends grow - i.e. introductions to friends of friends etc... You'll find then that you may click with one of these people and friendship grows into something more.

There's a better chance that anything that develops will be longer-term/more likely to succeed because both parties have had an opportunity to decide over a period of time if they have feelings for each other and similar interests beliefs etc... On the other side, if you dive in to just try to find an OH straight of the bat it is difficult to allow a true bond to build up between the two people because you enter it with preconceived notions and goals etc...

There is no definite tips anybody can give you about dating, as evey woman is different. What could work like a charm for one woman, another one may not like it at all. All anybody can tell you to do is be yourself, and good luck with it :)

Everywhere and anywhere. No one place you're gonna meet women.

Bryn: Where you playing for Stillorgan Saturday, played 20mins just to get a bit of a run out. If it was you I was the 8 blocking you at the back of the scrum:)

    Where you playing for Barnhall?

I came on just after the start of the second half. Haven't played since last April due to a knee injury so it was tough being back!

You just got to dive in mate.

On all those occassions where you are unsure to attend an event, be it a party, a work thing, a club, an internet thing or whatever...welll just GO, just GO!

Any time I have been unsure about going to an event because I wasn't sure if I'd know anybody there, I have had a great time.

Sure the first half an hour or so can be ough but you are kind of forced to make an effort and talk to people as you don't have your usual mates there. Trust me, by the end of the night you'll be having a right laugh!

Well if like myself you cant stand nightclubs pubs and the like try 'Woodies' no I'm not taking the mick, you well be surprised who you can find their.
As for tips, try and manage a half smile or a faint hello as you walk passed and for the love off God do not leer at them even if its unintentionally or for the matter slap them on the backside unless off course you have a deathwish. ;)

Just be chatty and friendly to every woman you meet no matter where you meet her, the more women you say Hi to the more chance you have of meeting someone so introduce yourself to as many women as possible as the more women you talk to the better you become at talking to women. The most important thing though is to never be too eager and never try too hard with the one women as a women can smell desperation a mile away.
