Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

rear fog lights

    Hi all.

I have my test in the morning and when checking all my lights were working just now I've discovered that one of my rear fog lights has gone.

Will this be an issue for the test? I know they need to check brake lights, indicators etc for health and safety but will I be allowed to do my test with this particular light gone?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

When I did my test, they didn't check if the fog lights were working only questioned if I knew where they were/how to turn them on.

There is no legal requirement to have any fog lights in Ireland.

What you may think one needs is irrelevant to the OP who is requesting information in a legal capacity for the purposes of doing a driving test. If there was a legal requirement to have a rear fog light, the examiner would be checking for it.

(And if it's foggy, you shouldn't be driving at a speed where you can't stop in time. There could be an unlit cyclist/pedestrian on the road in front).

if there was a legal requirement for minimun tyre tread would the examiner check that too

    there is ; does he

i thought the nct was to check cars and the driving test was to check the driver

i wrote you need one rear fog
you do need one rear fog (two is better)

i then wrote that its not checked (which it isn't)

there was no need to quote me to clarify that the reason its not checked is that there is no legal requirment , quoting me looks like correcting me and since i was correct up to a point there was no need .

anyway i'm glad that we have been able to give the op a full explination

(And if it's foggy, you shouldn't be driving at a speed where you can't stop in time. There could be an unlit cyclist/pedestrian on the road in front).

    yes this is true

i didn't really mean me when i said that i ment some idiot will ram you but i don't feel the need to believe im perfect so i said me.

if its foggy fog lights will help idiots that think they should drive too fast to see you so be safe use fog lights

also carry a reflective vest and torch in you car glove box in case you break down at night and drive with your dips on

non of these are the law but they could stop me from running you down
