Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do ATM's abroad usually accept Laser cards and would they work at most ATM's?

Any town I've been in in South East Asia had at least one ATM that accepted Maestro. I travelled in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia.

Yes, there are some machines that don't accept it, but you will find another one down the road that does. Even in Sumatra (the place with the least amount of tourists that I have been to) had plenty of ATM's that accept Maestro.

Just be careful when you are going to a place that it actually has any ATM at all. Some obscure, small, remote places don't but out of 5 months travelling, I encountered just 3. And it was in the Lonely Planet.

If you are just bringing ATM cards and no credit card (as I did), ring your bank and get them to issue you a second one. Keep them separate, different bags even, so that way if you lose one, you still have the other.

Definitely in US & Australia irish bank cards work in cash machines.

In US Particularly whatch for bank machines which impose a charge (on top of that charged by your bank) for the withdrawl - generally these are in shops. It is even worse in Vegas with the cash machines inside the casinos:eek:

Also, be aware that with every withdrawl your bank will make a charge to you - no point in withdrawing €50 (equivalent) every day like at home, the charges will soon build up.

Is it even possible to get around without a Credit Card?
