We are going away to Paris fo the Valintines weekend - His treat!!! and I was thinking of getting a Brazilian Wax done before we go as a surprise for himself when we arrive in Paris :). Just wondering do most people get waxed for special occasions like this only or can people really afford to have it done every few weeks? P.s. If anyone has any recomendations on where to go in Dublin City to have it done pls let me know.. xxx

I get waxed as often as I can afford to go (or be bothered to go, seeing as I moved and my waxing place is now on the other side of town). But doing it as just a treat for the both of you is nice as well. I started getting waxed for special occasions/visits/etc, and then it just became more than a once-in-a-while treat.

    No.

Never got waxed. Probably should, whatever. Not very hairy anyway. Might get it done in the next few weeks for the craic, just to see what it's like!

It's just that the poll is a little ambiguous! It's asking do you bikini wax for special occasions - if "yes" means, yes I do bikini wax for special occasions only, does "no" mean that you can "really afford to have it done every few weeks?", like it says in the post, or does "no" mean that you don't get it done at all!

It's just not very clear what's being asked, in my opinion!

Sorry. The poll is not trying to find out if people can afford to get waxed or not it is just asking the question if most girls simply get waxed for a special occasion such as holidays or Valintines or do most girls get waxed on a regular basis (every few weeks)... Thanks for your replies so far. Anyone got a good place in Dublin to go to before Valintines.????

Hi Kitty, Yeah I've recently just became addicted to getting waxed. I got mine done and it lasted seven wks and out of that I'd say I had 4 wks of total smoothness. Theres a great place in Dun Laoghaire called Waxperts 01-2140757. Three lovely girls working there and the place is beautifully decorated. They have developed their own wax and I got a Hollywood wax (everything gone)and it was more or less pain free. They also do one called a "Vegas" where you can get Diamanonds in all different colours n shapes after your all waxed! Definitely went down a treat for the reaction alone. Hope this helps :D

Thanks for this. I will give them a call I have heard you should only use the wax without the strip? is this true. Sorry but I am nervous and have heard horror stories in the past

Yea they dont use the strips or anything so its just the wax on your skin so maybe thats why it seems less painful.
If you exfoliate and moisturise as much as you can the wks before hand it also makes it a more pleasant experience.
Good luck with it, enjoy your break in Paris!

I get waxed (everything back to front) every four months but in between I give myself a high leg bikini wax (I'm a qualified wax therapist and have the wax and equipment but I don't work as one). I just can't do the whole thing myself - I have tried but those last couple pieces of wax I just can't bring myself to pull them off!!!

You should go for the hot wax which is used without strips. For a specialised bikini wax - like Hollywood, Brazilian etc - I would recommend that you go to a waxing salon rather than a beauty salon as the therapists would have a lot more experience with doing the extreme waxes. I can recommend both Brazilia and Urban Wax in Dublin City Centre. You can also get a tube of "no scream" cream (defo in Urban Wax at least) and apply about a half hour before your treatment if you have a very low pain threshold or are very nervous. It is a topical anesthetic and so just numbs the skin temporarily. Personallly I don't find the full wax painful at all - in fact I find waxing my legs the most painful - but everyone has a different tolerance level.

Oh and your oh will defo be impressed!

I initially got a brazillian for going on hols this year, but now get one about every six weeks or so. Used to use Immac, or Veet or whatever it is, but since I tried waxing I wouldn't go back to the creams. If I was going away or it was a special occasion, I'd probably go just before the event also (depending on what the event was, and if I had the money). I don't find it that sore (and I've got a really low pain threshold), although the bit right between your legs definitely smarts when they're waxing it .

If you're looking for someone in Dublin, I'd highly recommend Waxperts in Dun Laoghaire. Definitely go to a specialist waxer, and not someone who uses strip wax - hot wax is what should be used on the bikini area! Also check does the waxer 'double dip' - dip the same applicator back in the wax after applying it to your skin - a lot of people say the heat of the wax kills any germs on it, but I still think it's not very hygienic.
