    Hi,
Im considering studying OT in the near future either here or abroad...it will be a big commitment on my part to accomplish this. I'm concerned what the employment opportunities will be in the future. If anyone has any knowledge or advice on this it would be much appreciated.
    thanks in advance..

OT is a very diverse job and has moved on from the traditional rehab beginnings in Dun Laoghaire. OTs work with everyone from kids to the elderly and are involved in most medical conditions. They work from community to rehab to psychiatric to acute hospitals.

It would be a good idea to chat to a few OTs to see what they do (as they will have quite different jobs and roles) and see what you think. Unless regulations have changed, OT is also the most portable profession with minimum red tape to work anywhere in the world.

The primary care strategy (or whats left of it) is starting get rolled out.
An intergal part of this is having OT's as part of the "core" primary care team".
Funding is an issue at the moment but going forward there will be more opportunities and positions available.
Good career choice and will give a flexible, satisfying and varied job.
