Seeing as there's a thread about cheats that don't work for the earlier Pokemon games, why not have one for cheats that do work? :D

It's been a while since I've played Pokemon so I can't contribute any that I know to work for definite.

Well, there's the infamous Mew glitch that works in the first gen. games:

I would class cheats in Pokemon as "using an external device to modify the game", what you discribe with the Mew is more a glitch, i.e. and oversight by the developers.

The most useful glitch of this generation is the GTS cloning glitch. It takes time to get the timing right, but handy when it does work.

Almost all the know glitches can be found here

The Mew glitch is awesome and can be replicated to catch any Pokémon. It was very useful when I played Yellow again recently.

I used it to get Mew back in the day on my copy of Blue. There was loads of worry because everyone was saying that it could/would corrupt your save game, and that if you ever wanted a legit Mew (from an event) they could tell straight away that your one was glitched and then wouldn't give you a legit one!

Does any one know any glitches for Platinum?
I've virtually finished the game now and I'm just looking for a bit of fun.

You could try tweaking and extend your game by going for Darkrai and Shaymin, but that's all I can think of :(

I had a slightly different Mew glitch, on Red, some of it matches that Yellow YouTube video but I remember having to use Fly (rather than Teleport), and having to go to the city with the Ghost Tower.

I wonder how the heck people managed to unearth these glitches, the loops you had to jump through aren't exactly intuitive.

Yeah you can do it this way too:

It was found out when techy people started looking at the code and it's got something to do with hex values. Total gobeldegook to me.
