Does look nice, wish the red was deeper though, ah well, no wheel covers looks well to.

Hate all the white on it other than that it looks good.

Looks very nice, only worry is how it would look from the front with all that white on the front wing.

Dont forget that Ferrari had a white front wing for most of the decade and it didnt upset the livery too badly on tv for front to back shots. In fact the new cars livery is almost identical to the livieres from 2000 until 2006

I'm just worried it could end up as fugly as last year's Toyota.

Thinks it looks the business, especially with the white livery on the front wings, sets it off well compared to it being totally red.
Easier to pick out the design lines than on the deep red colour.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,056 ✭✭✭Tragedy

Don't like the white and would prefer a deeper/brighter red.

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 FerrariRed

It's a nice looking car, but I really dislike when they have white barge boards as part of their livery. Takes away from it in my opinion.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,390 ✭✭✭IM0

If they went the whole way and had it white all over that would be an eyecatcher, and would work really well with the red of the major sponsor Santander which is why the wings are white anyway.

I wonder how many buy ferrari's thinking they only come in red ;)

Who buys a Ferrari in anything other then red tbh? You're buying one to be SEEN, may as well be gaudy and stick the classic red livery on it. In fact, stick a few Marlboro stickers on it just for the sake of posterity and feel like Schumi back in the day :D

Seems to me that the talk is coming from the Italian press, who are probably a bit worried about their beloved team after last years dismal performance.

I'd buy a yellow one, not that I'll ever have the money :D

yep me too, in fairness it would be hard to argue that a yellow one would be less eyecatching than a red one :D

Ah yellow is for Jordon only lads!

Pure Jordan, right down to the Total sponsorship.

Good to see Renault back to their proper motorsport livery. Petrov confirmed as their number two driver as well

The Red wing endplates ruin a good livery in my opinion

    Holy ****!! The 2010 EJ20.

Could be a sponsorship magnet. Good call Renault!

According to the press this will not be the case. Rumours are circulating that they've begun working on a b-spec car because the F10 is off the pace already according to wind-tunnel tests etc. They're worried after the McLaren MP4-24 launched with a "hidden" rear diffuser. They reckon theirs just isn't up to the job at the minute...

I hope Sauber pick up some sponsorship before the start of the season or the car is going to look very bland. We have Virgin to thank for that not happening to the Brawn last year. Also the new Virgin(Manor) F1 car is to be launched Wednesday on their website.

I hate to say it but the new Renault looks very nice, kinda makes me pine for the old Jordan cars.

Saw my first pics of the new Merc. Not sure what to make of it from the angle of the shot but it seems a pretty big depature from last years Brawn at the front end with a higher nose and fins like the Red Bull just above where the drivers feet will be. The car should be rolled out now for its shakedown

UPDATE: On track pics of the Merc with Rosberg at the wheel. He's done about ten laps of shakedown running thus far

I just don't like the Merc's livery though. Looks like a child painted it. I was expecting some silver arrow stuff to rival McLaren's always-lovely paintwork... but no, it looks pretty dire.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,199 ✭✭✭G-Money

I'm beginning to like the new Ferrari more and more. I love how the bodywork is sculpted down so far at the back.

I like the angle in the above pic of the new Merc. The 3rd pic with Rosberg going around the corner. I agree in that the paint job doesn't look great. I think the green/turqoise from Petronas is ruining it to be honest. It also looks more white than silver.

Looks like most teams are copying the Red Bull high nose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,522 ✭✭✭✭Cookie_Monster

The brushed effect of the barge boards look good & the blue highlights but that's about it tbh. The hump effect of the nose cone looks weird.

silver Silver Arrows would have been good.

Its not a particularly nice car really is it? The livery is pretty awful but even just the car itself is nothing to write home about. Renault livery is best looking so far but the car looks very conservative. Looking forward to seeing the Red Bull.

Schumi showing Rosberg how it's done. :pac:

Either the Renault is a dog or they wasted a day of testing.

Difficult to tell from the angle but it looks like the STR5 stuck with a pull rod suspension. Airbrush out Bourdais and extend the engine cover from last years press photos and they could have skipped the launch completely.

Any pics of Ferrari, Mercs diffusers?

Maybe we should start a pre season testing discussion thread.

Ferrari (like McLaren) covered theirs at the press launch.

Haven't seen any rear shots of the Merc yet.

The Merc diffuser. It looks less double to last years and like it has less area with the carbon fibre bit around what looks like the starter.

Holy crap! Compensating for missing the diffuser at the start of last season.

Wonder how the airflow coming off that will affect a chasing car?

Unofficial Monday test times from Valencia:
    1. Felipe Massa, Ferrari, 1:12.574, 102 Laps
    2. Pedro de la Rosa, BMW Sauber, 1:12.784, 74 Laps
    3. Michael Schumacher, Mercedes GP, 1:12.947, 40 Laps
    4. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes GP, 1:13.543, 39 Laps
    5. Gary Paffett, McLaren, 1:13.846, 86 Laps
    6. Rubens Barrichello, Williams, 1:14.449, 75 Laps
    7. Sebastien Buemi, Toro Rosso, 1:14.762, 18 Laps
    8. Robert Kubica, Renault, 1:15.000, 69 Laps

First day out of the box it doesnt look too bad for the F10!
Although granted it is the first day of testing which isn't a huge pile to go on.
Nice to see Schumacher putting a decent time already.

Nice video, although I'm only getting sound through one side of my headphones when I watch it.

I actually thought about travelling over to some of the test sessions. Tickets into the circuit are about 10 euro.
