Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Woke up this morning to discover that some "nice" person decided to draw a line all along the side of my car with a black permanent marker.

This ever happen anyone? What would be best way to remove it?

Google suggests nail polish remover, but i want to be sure i don't damage the paint work. Car is silver colour if that matters!

Try a bit of brasso, or scratchout,(yellow bottle) which can be got in motor factors. NOT nail varnish remover.

I would have suggested acetone (nail polish remover) myself.

Try a small amount of petrol on a clean cloth.

    I'd go petrol too...

graffiti remover would probably do it without a doubt but it might strip the paint.

petrol would do it but i found something even better. I had the same happen a while ago, it was a child who did it in innocence. Looked the marker, the solvent was alcohol based. Used vodka and a soft sponge , took it right off.

I would guess vodka (higher ethanol content the better) or petrol would do it. the the vodka on a small spot first if it works do the rest. if not petrol would do it but test that on a small spot too

Hmm, vodka could work. I'd say petrol and be ready with a bottle of water to wash the residue of the petrol off after.

Or WD 40 should do it too.

Petrol on a clean cloth or else thinners will do the job

You can get stuff called "Sticky Stuff Remover" from halfords, which as I remember gets rid of permanent marker.

I used it to get a glue spill off the door, and it worked quite well. Its not cheap though at €6.99 a can.

Lynx, aftershave, vodka, anything that is organic based should disolve it.

Vodka is nearly cheaper per liter than petrol anyhow! :p

Used the nail polish remover and it worked 100%, not a problem!
