Anyone shooting the new 308 palma brass offering from Lapua, Has this brass the same measurements as standard 308 brass with just the use of a small primer, What would be the advantages with this case verses the standard 308 case.

The new offering from lapua is standard 308 winchester brass with a small primer rather than a large rifle primer, the reason this was put on to the market was because tests showed that for 1000 yard shooting the use of the small primer created more even pressures and resulted in a lot less vertical stringing over the longer ranges, its offered as a custom case and the price reflects this, im not sure of the exact price yet as it hasnt hit the shelfs in a lot of places.:)

Thanks for info, Wonder will we ever see a 243 win case with small primer pocket produced, If the smaller primer causes less vert and more even pressures then would be a great long range offering with 105-115g bullets.

I reckon so, the small rifle primers are more consistant than the large ones, so they offer less standard deviation, I wouldnt be surprised if they offered a 243 case with small primer, it may be down to the popularity of the 308 that has made them market the new case in that calibre to begin with, who knows what will follow..the ballisticians are looking for any gain they can get for the long range stuff where the smallest difference means a lot:)
