Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Power Washer Tips

    Hey,

Just want to get some tips here. I used to drive a silver van, and would wash it once every few months! You just couldnt notice the dirt on it! But now am driving a White one, and it is black again the day after I wash it. So thought it would be a good idea to get a powerwasher to help keep it clean.

However, just using the power washer on it does not clean it very well. I still end up scrubbing the entire thing, and then washing it down with the power washer. Back to square one! I used to scrub it, and then rinse it with the hose for the exact same effect!

So what tactics do you all use for washing cars/vans quickly with a power washer?

tbh, power washer is only a quickie job. If you want it properly clean, you will have to do more than powerwash.

You just can't get the amount of ****e on our roads off a car in one go, effectively.

And powerwash makes a bollokcs of brake calipers and the like.

And, do you pre-wash with a film remover ? If not, you should. Crap won't just fall off with water (and psi...), needs to be softened, first.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Cheers for your reply!

Whats this film remover? Any specific brand? And roughly how much is it?

I do use the detergent with the power washer - ie, it sucks a bit of detergent in as it goes, but it really doesnt make much difference.

If you're not super-worried about slight scratches/swirls in in your paintwork, this is what you want

    (connects straight to your hose)

blast of the thick dirt with the power washer, rinse with this, done

Aha! Well I used to use a kitchen brush and a bucket of warm, soapy water, so that would surely be an improvement!!!

you can get them in small as well (to better get into awkward spots)

however, I find the longer the handle, the less wet you get yourself :D
