I recently had a chance to play with a Nexus and was blown away , I want one!
However I have been reading about the HD2 and it looks pretty sweet too and of course Android is loadable on that too...

The folks on xda-developers seem divided on opinion.

Things i like about the HD2 over the Nexus is the bigger screen real estate and the camera is supposed to be better.

Anyone here have opinions of one over the other?

    At a glance comparison chart:-

The battery life doesnt bother me, for sure there will be higher capacity ones released by third party manufacturers.
The other stuff, undecided whats more important, the camera is a biggy and screen size for me.

I've had both and It's kind of a tough one. I liked the bigger icons on the hd2 as opposed to what seemed small ones to me on the nexus, I found the hd2 abit easier to set up too with importing contacts ect.

Winmo had alot of bad press when I researched it but I didnt have any trouble with it, but maby thats due to Htc masking it. Either ways I doubt you would be unhappy with either phone if you were to buy

I dont think you can. HTC are releasing an android version of the HD2, but the OS's arent interchangable. You cant just get the Windows HTC HD2 from O2 and install android on it.

    Am I right on this?

I second this! I love the idea of the Nexus One and would've bought one if they opened it to Ireland already (can't be ar$ed with the hassle of importing one), but after seeing the HTC Desire... well, this is just like a Nexus One, minus the noise cancellation and minus the voice-to-text but with the nicer GUI (can be switched off), more RAM (probably needed for the nicer GUI!), an 8GB SD card instead of the 4GB, much nicer casing, a much nicer optical thingy instead of the ugly, sticking out trackball and it's probably going to be about the same price!

Google really shot themselves in the foot not releasing it world-wide. I mean, 6 months is a lifetime when it comes to mobile phones and chances are it won't be available in Ireland (officially) for at least that. Way to allow the competition to pass you out!

HTC Desire all the way! At least, until another 6 months and something better comes along! :D

google never wanted to flood the market with Nexus One.
for me, Nexus One all the way. Dont want to wait months for HTC to come up with an update that google has implemented months before on non-HTC devices..
