Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

converting fat32 to ntfs on a flash drive?

i just converted the file system on my flash drive from fat32 to ntfs to handle files over 4gb. my brother says that this isn't a good idea as solid state drives are meant to have fat as their file systems.
i was testing to see if the files would still be intact as i was going to convert the file system on my external hard drive (a 1TB western digital elements) from fat to ntfs without backing up the files (i have no space to back them up).
i used the "convert" command in the command prompt to change from FAT to NTFS.
so does having NTFS on a flash drive damage it at all?
    thanks

Not at all. Reason they're normally formatted with FAT/FAT32 is that it's cross platform compatible will most operating systems.

You'll have no issues as long as you use Win 2000 or above

    thanks the_edge
that's okay, then. running XP on two comps and win7 on my own laptop. the only problem my brother had with a ntfs hard drive was when he was going on the college computers in NUI Galway, that wouldn't allow the computer to recognise it but apparently when he reformatted it to fat, it started working again. hopefully this won't happen with my flash drive. i suppose i could always use my old 1gb usb stick. :P
