I agree. A cup run is not what we need especially with a paper thin squad. If we had the luxury of a big squad I wouldn't mind a cup run at all but we couldn't afford one.

With Chris' team selection last week it was evident that his sights are on promotion.

We played a Leicester City side who played as if it were last survival stuff.
Williamson was brilliant tonight.
Routledge did quite too albeit a few poor shots.

Give the lads a break, new signings need time to jel.
Exciting finale to come though.!

Its not just today lad, this has been going on for about 7/8 games, we are struggling to create anything and just getting over the line. The palace game illustrates it perfectly, we were very fortunate to win. We were outclassed by WBA twice. Our first game against Plymouth was abysmal. Derby and SHW were poor performances also!

I know only too well but I still think we have enough for this league and to win it.

One skillful striker and we're on our way.
Routledge needs times to fit in, but I think will prove a cracking signing.
Just keep the faith.

We can win it yes but I don't know what's happening lately. Smith doesn't seem bothered anymore since Nicky Butt has been named captain.

Very poor choices in substitutes. Taking off Smith and bringing on Ranger. An absolute joke really when Butt was piss poor.

It's all good having the best defence in the Championship but it's the other end of the pitch that doesn't seem to really be working at all lately. I'm still confused as to why Jonas and Lovenkrands weren't on the pitch at all today.

I really think that we have been bludgeoning teams into submission this season. The imagination has been lacking. No one can really pick out a ball in our midfield. (hopefully Routlege can deliver). Guthrie looked like he could do this but has really not delivered. Our lack of crosses considering who we have up front is extremely frustrating too. With Carroll up front we should be looking for the byline all the time. Jonas cuts inside way to much for me. The lack of wing play compresses the play and puts the ball into areas that we have no creativity. despite this we are top of the league. I think that our class of player compared with the division and a fair supply of luck is getting us over the line.

Chris' tactics last night were baffling. Why did we change to 4-5-1. An unfamiliar lineup with 3 unfamiliar players! Butt and Smith should NEVER play together, im sure that was said last time they did. As for the subs Smith was poor last night but Butt was shocking. The lad really seems to have lost it (although maybe he needs a run in the side). Hes well off the pace and trying crossfield balls that he's never going to pull off. As for his attacking presence!!!! Any why was Pancrate brought on at all? The lad has not done a thing since scoring on his debut. 3/4 times a player who is supposedly "full of tricks" was in loads of space, with plenty of room to run forward and he plays the ball to the feet of a surrounded center forward, why not Jonas?

Whats worrying is this run will seriously dent our confidence, with tricky assignments coming up against Cardiff, Swansea and on yesterdays performance Derby picking up the urgency is vital and dare i say get Joey Barton back ASAP?
