Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The obscure player you know who you'd say is good enough for the Premier League

Long name for a thread title I know, but, coincidentally, these obscure players tend to have ridiculously long names or just downright average names.

Well now onto the idea of the thread. This thread is taking into account players you know from experience of watching them and not taking into account that Hull are a premier league team.

Which players do you see in other leagues than the PL that are good enough for the Premier League? To me I think there are a few which are good enough and have never really been with a large enough club to have attained such praise, namely Alex of Fenerbache, he's their talisman and playmaker, I think there's only been 6 matches in his whole career with Fener that he hasn't helped with creating or scoring a goal (either having an assist or scoring). A player like this would be a top notch player for even the top 4, to me I think he's the type of player who'd fit in Manchester Uniteds midfield as a creative player with a lot of flair.

Another to me would probably be Lucian Sanmartean. What makes him stand out is his absolutely fabulous ball control and ability to dribble himself through defensive lines without getting touched. He rarely gets involved into physical battles and that's an incredible excersize and only proves his finesse. He dances past most tackles and leaves untouched unless someone deliberately wants to foul him. His passing and vision is beyond the rest of his team making it difficult for him to organize the game properly. Although he still plys his trade in Romania, hes a top notch player and would be a similar enough player to Alex in his playmaking nature.

Another player I'd like to mention is arguably one of the best dribblers in the world. Ibrahima Yattara, he is probably the best player in Turkey due to his technical abilities. He can use the flanks expertly, especially with his runs down the right to supply his team mates with ever so accurate crosses. He has some smooth finishing skills and shows his composure as if he were a striker. He's also capable of scoring some crackin free kicks from long range as well. His playing style is something like Ronaldinho and he could me mentioned in the same class as him. His loyalty is something which is rare, other big soccer clubs Fenerbahce ,Galatasaray,Besiktas wanted him, but he did not want to play for any other team than Trabzonspor.

    Marvin Emnes - Boro

    Victor Moses - Palace

    Jefferson Farfán - Schalke 04

Bloody little firecracker so he is... Would have loved if he'd come to the Prem after he left PSV Eindhoeven... But alas, was not to be.

I reckon he'd slot right into a lot of Prem squads.

Really? Emnes seems too clumsly for the Premiership to me in the glimpes I caught of him last year, and I think Moses is suffering from the same thing Sean Scannell is suffering from... Not knowing what his main position is. Although I still think Moses is too raw for the PL, he'd be best of staying in the Championship imo.

Easily, he's an absolute beast. Speed demon comes to mind!

Definitely. Ive seen him a good few times and I think hes class. Can head the ball as if hes driven it with his foot.

Jan Klaas Huntelaar aswell. Not sure if hes that obscure anymore though but hes unproven in the Premier league and alot of people still dont know of him. Would love to see him at Liverpool.

    Suarez of Ajax.

Akinfeev again hes better known now though.

Yeah, smacks of Premiership arrogance to say that the best players in the 4th and 5th best leagues in the world would be good enough for the likes of Everton or Spurs. Dzeko is going to walk into a top 4 team in Italy or England soon enough

He was with Sheffield United. From what I remember he wasnt all that great. Seems to have improved since he left however.

Sheffield United, used to play for BHA too, good player, not good enough for Fenerbache though. He's been sent on Loan to Toulouse me thinks...

Wes Hoolahan is not good enough for the Prem.

Dorin Goian - A 6 ft 5" Romainian centre back. I remember watching quite a bit of him in club games and at Euro 2008 when my team Sunderland were reported to be interested and thought he had more than enough about him to become a decent Premier League player. A terrific display against Italy in Euro 2008 caught the attention of Palermo, where he now plays.

He's not got a look in at Palermo, 3rd choice thanks to Kjaer.

Delph plays for Villa, and yeah Beckford has more of a poaching instinct to him than most players in the EPL do.

FFS, most of the players mentioned on this thread are so far away from obscure it's unreal.

Cardoza, Dzeko and Pjanic, how in the name of God are they obscure?

In fairness not everyone follows the leagues of Europe. Most of the bigger name players mentioned are a step away from stardom at the highest level rather than actually being obscure.
Although I will admit that most people would know who Dzeko is at this stage.
