Hi there. A friend of mine asked what he needed to buy an IP Camera system that would enable him to view the calving shed (yes, pregnant cows about to drop their calves) at his fathers farm. The system would mean he could travel to the farm when needed. The farm is in a part of Cavan with no landline broadband and very little mobile broadband coverage by Vodafone or O2. Simple questions: 1) can he do it? and, if so, 2) how? Look forward to hearing from you.

If he has access to mobile broadband he can do it.

You can buy a pretty good IP camera on eBay with pan and tilt on it.
Then use the Dovado UMR and and Mobile BB Dongle and you're good to go.

A friend of mine did just this for his brother for their farm, and it works well.

Ta for your replies. It answers my question, and the answer is No! The farm is in the vicinity of Bawnboy, County Cavan; not covered by landline or mobile BB! I hope to chat to you all soon; V impressed with Boards and the people who subscribe to it!!
