Patriot missiles being deployed in some Arab allies

It's being reported that US military officials told AP on condition of anonymity that Washington has taken silent steps to increase the capability of land-based Patriot missiles on the territory of some of its Arab allies in the Persian Gulf region.

So they are going to attack Iran's nuclear power plant sites.

they could just be upgrading them - new software packages etc.. as Manic says, defence equipment (or indeed your PC) regularly gets upgrades or 'patches', they are installed as the manufacturer as develops them, or the customer decides they want them.

if you're looking for indicators of futre military operations, there are much better things to look out for - lines of C-17's flying several thousand JDAM's and EPWIII's to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman being obvious ones...

The UAE just placed a $3.3 billion order for Patriot systems with the newest PAC 3 ABM capability. Taiwan and Kuwait also have orders in for upgrades and repairs. This (PAC3) is something which has been developed for a long time is hardly secret.
