Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I have a Volvo S40 1.8 Bioethanol / Petrol and mostly petrol because the station that sells the E85 has a broken pump, go figure.

So, the tank has 52 Litres and Im getting around 450kms per tank or so.

So thats around 12 Kms per litre
So thats 7.4 Miles Per Litre
    3.8 Litres in a Gallon
    (7.4 , 3.8)

    = 28.12 MPG

    Is that correct?

I didn't do terribly well in Mathematics during my school days.

    450km/52 litres is 8.65km/l

    That's 5.4 miles/l and 24.5mpg

    (There's 4.54l in a UK gallon)

    That puts me off bioethanol!

emmm ...you don't calculate your fuel consumption on the theoretical size of the tank but on the amount actually filled per distance travelled.

Brim it, set the counter to zero and at the next fill take note of the exact liters actually put in and the distance travelled ...and then calculate again

based on your figures I make it 24.5mpg aswell but I'd agree with peasant on how you should calculate.

    450 kms = 279 Miles
    279/52 = 5.36 Miles per liter

    1 Imperial Gallon (UK) = 4.54609188 litres

So to make it simpler call it 4.55

    5.36 x 4.55

    = 24.38 MPG

( I was bad at maths as well though :D )
