Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UK analogue radio scrappage scheme floated

Obviously this is of only academic interest for most of us. Another damned stupid idea (along with the whole fostering of DAB on an apparently less than overwhelmed public) if you ask me, wasteful, expensive and what about car radios? Would the government pay to have a fella in Hellfords fit the new one?

    article
Similar to how the car scrappage scheme worked, consumers will be able to swap an analogue radio for a discount on a new digital radio, with old sets going to a good cause.

The government’s 2015 target switch-off date for FM is increasingly regarded as unrealistic by the industry. An exchange scheme would help boost the number of digital sets in Britain’s homes, which currently sits at around 10.5m compared to the estimated 100m analogue radios in use.

There seems to be a lot of digital radios in the uk.

I wonder what would the percentage be in this country? I doubt it would be anywhere near 10% or am I wrong?

I'm not aware of numbers but it must be tiny, more people will listen to RTEs DAB channels over the internet I suspect.
