Heres an idea for bit of a fun game.. Pick your ideal supergroup from musicians and any bands you like, The only rule is there has to be 1 singer, only 2 guitarists, a bassist, drummer and a optional keyboardist.

    SINGER: BRUCE DICKINSON, IRON MAIDEN

    RHYTHM GUITARIST: JAMES HETFIELD, METALLICA

LEAD GUITARIST: JOHN PETRUCCI, DREAM THEATER

    DRUMMER: MIKE PORTNOY, DREAM THEATER

    BASSIST: GEDDY LEE, RUSH

    KEYBOARDIST: RICK WRIGHT, PINK FLOYD

Love the page young combo, and would work well, as they are both amazing guitarists, and both play a part in a band, as opposed to being the main attraction like hendrix of gallagher (who I also love :D)

    for me:
    Vocals/Keys: Freddie Mercury
    Lead guitar: Jimmy Page
    Rhythm guitar: Malcolm Young
    Bass/Vocals: Phil Lynott

Thanks man my thought process was that Young would provide the solid riffage, Page would add the off key melodies while JPJ would just pull some mesmorising bass line from somewhere, as usual, and Copeland would provide intricate beats and is no stranger to rocking out!!

    Silly game :)

Okay then stand well back for

    Vocals - Roger Daltry
    Lead Guitar - Pete Townshend
    Bass - John Entwistle
    Drums - Keith Moon

    Hmmmmmm, looks familiar.

Purely invented "supergroups" are a hazzard plenty have clearly been less than the sum of their parts and blatent moneyspinning exercises.

This lot might well suck (and need some physical support)

    Vocals - Ian Gillan
    Guitar - Jeff Beck
    Drums - Neil Peart
    Bass - Neil Rogers
    Keyboards - Jan Hammer

Would sound awful together I imagine but...

    Vocals: David Lee Roth
    Lead: Paul Gilbert
    Rhythm: Paul Stanley
    Bass: Phil Lynott
    Drums: Vinnie Paul

Then again, they'd probably get a lot of groupies no matter how they sounded

Vocals - Fred Durst :P - Geddy Lee (Rush)
    Guitarist 1 - Rory Gallagher
    Guitarist 2 - Gary Moore
Drums (& Lyrics) - Neil Peart (Rush)
    Bass - Phil Lynott

I was thinking Chris Cornell for the vocals but he wouldn't really suit the feel of the band. Something about two lead guitarists in Gallagher and Moore...
