In that case, there is only one option.

You would do well to get a steak there though Alan (I do recommend the rabbit though:)). Sal e pepe is lovely, and the restaurant upstairs in oscars has never let me down, although a few people I know have had bad experience's in the run up to christmas. I was last there new years eve and it was top drawer.

Yeah the steak there is delicious, i used to work there myself, and the service can be, well, intermittent at best, but the steak is delicious! I'd recommend the seabank (http://www.menupages.ie/Dublin/north_dublin/restaurants/seabank_bistro.aspx). Small cosy place, absolutely gorgeous food! Bit pricey, but worth it. Always thought Cruzzo's was as bit too far up it's own hold and expensive just for the sake of it, like if you order a chicken dish, and will get a chicken breast on a plate with a smattering of sauce, everything is extra.

"Oscars" is like stepping back into the seventies. I ate there around Christmas and it was pretty bad. Avoid.

I know the OP mentioned steak, but Jaipur is a lovely Indian place....

Cheers folks I think bonappetit would be wasted on me 9 times out of 10 I go for fillet steak with all the trimmings so am quite boring in that regards. Cruzzos looks ideal also would anyone recommend the restaurant in the grand hotel, which would be handy for one night maybe

Its not bad. I'm not a fan of Cruzzos I must say, a little overpriced, average fare etc.

I had a steak in Bonappetit and it was just lovely, but I suppose its not for everyone.
