Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I got a Nikon d3000 with the 18-55 VR kit lens for Xmas. I would like to get another lens suitable for wildlife etc, and have been looking at the following ones.

Tamron 70-300mm F4/5.6 DI LD Macro (Nikon AF) £169 from Jessops.

    Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6 AFS G (Black) £179 from Jessops

My budget is around these prices but I am not an expert and would like peoples opinions on these for a beginner. I am also confused on the difference between AF and AFS. I think my D3000 is AFS fitting but does it matter?

I f anyone has a suggestion for a tripod around the £40-50 mark then please let me know.

    Many thanks in advance.

On your D3000 the "AF" lens will not AutoFocus as it does not have an AF Motor in the lens & your body does not have one either. The AFS does have an inbuilt motor so will AutoFocus.

200mm is probably a bit short for a lot of Wildlife. 300mm is still probably on the short side.

As for a suggestion for a Tripod for that money, you are not going to get a good one for that money.

I just bought the Nikon 55-22 A-FS VR DX lens new for £160. Good deal?

Looking for a suitable tripod for this on my D3000.

Has anyone got or used a HAMA star 63 tripod. They are greatly reduced online.

    Or this one. http://http://www.amazon.co.uk/Heavy-Professional-Aluminium-Camera-Tripod/dp/B000M342TK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265127689&sr=1-5

It has good reviews, but will it fit my Nikon? Are there different fits on different tripods, like the lenses?
