Agree with Tony. Don't consider using it without an internet connection. You lose most of the benefits to be honest.

I had a couple of lockups of DTT with my Nova-T, but I had been sending updates of my bouquets from the channel editor with just enigma2 restarts. Full reboot yesterday evening, and seems stable so far. I have the latest updates from vix installed, and nova-T is the only plugin installed apart from the ones that ship with vix.
Hopefully others with the nova-t can keep us all posted on stability (or otherwise) with that tuner... will do so myself...

How often does the swap get used ?
96MB is just the size I chose, since there's plenty of room on the pendrive.

I dunno how much/little the swapfile is used tbh.

In the normal run of things the Nova-t records a single DTT program OK but it seems that if you push it then it causes issues.

A good test is record ITV hd and BBC HD and watch dtt channel.
You should normally see pixelation on the DTT Channel.

I might have 3 recordings (2 sat & 1dtt) going at the same time and your sure to have either issues on the DTT on playback or black screen on the DTT channel or on all DTT channels.

I would regularly have 2 recordings going at once and with DTT not stable it means that I would have no spare tuner to watch something else.

Folks, mt VU+ Duo is still under repair with the vendor in Spain. They have sent me a few file transfer images as evidence that the box network port is working normally. Can anyone tell me what they make of these images? What speeds do these represent?

I thought a 100Mbit lan connection should give a file transfer of (100/8 = 12.5KB) not Kb (capital b's etc). Theoretical speeds I know in the images but 8-11Kb seems very slow

I think those figures are 8000-11000 Kb/s, so about right.
They use the period/full stop on the continent where we would use a comma to express large numbers.
Look at the filesizes they are transferring: 400-500Mb

Not what you wanted to hear I know...

But if you're happy to find it working properly, that's great:)

When will you get it back?

It's the AverTV Volar Black HD A850 stick, irishchris.

In Tuner Config for Tuner B, have you it set to "Equal to.. Tuner A"? As this implies to the software that you only have one IF input.

I've only got one input from my dish, so I've set up Tuner B to be equal to Tuner A.

I've just bought a Nova T and tested it on a laptop, works fine. When I plugged it into the back of the Vu+, I thought it would appear as Tuner C and I would be able to do a scan. Instead there's no sign of any new tuner in the config. Even after a reboot.

Anything simple that I'm missing (often there is)? Running updated Vix 2.0

EDIT - turned out the simple thing I was missing was to install the plugin from the dvb section of plugins. And do a complete restart. When Tuner C appeared, had to set it up with details of my local transmitter, Three Rock 738000/8MHZ
    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?6323-NOVA-WIN-T-on-ViX-2.0&highlight=setup+nova

I'm still not quite sure how to get those Irish channels into the same bouquet....

Any links to threads on the Vix forums with simple set up guides? I'd like to get Cross EPG working with the Irish DTT channels, and picons - that's all I'm trying to get set up for now!

    Folks

I just want to say the following regarding ielektroniks.com.
I made an error in thinking my VU+ Duo was faulty. It was not. I sent the unit back to ielektroniks.com in Spain. They tested it and confirmed it is working perfectly. So it's my mistake and my fault. I am covering postage costs.

I was treated very well by Carlos and I can confirm that this is a decent company. I apologise to them if I caused them any negativity here. They are decent and reliable, I would now highly recommend them.

There were a few issues to do with their website being down briefly and translation issues. They sent me an address that I needed to clarify on here, they also use the decimal point instead of the comma in numbering so I misread their data throughput figures. These are translation issues that I hope we can both learn from.

Well done Ielektroniks. Highly recommended and thanks for the time and patience you have shown me.

Now where's my box? I need a tele fix :D

Great to hear, so what was the issue that was causing the network light to go orange on your router?

Could it have been the non existant network issues that (didn't) occured at the start of the vix 2.0 release?

Hi islaremota and welcome to boards.

Thanks for the discount codes I might consider a solo in the future for upstairs in the house. Christmas perhaps, if I can get everything working with the Duo by then!!

By the way, nothing wrong with recommending ielektroniks.com, but do you have any kind of connection with them? No problem if you do, it's just we prefer people to open about their connections. In fact, many people on this thread seem to be purchasing from that store, so it would be great to have an official representative!

Haven't actually got the coax cable in yet to wire up the sat but I have saorview coming in from three rock using this receiver that i picked up on ebay from hong kong for a few euro a good while back. This is using the af9015 driver on the latest black hole image. Just wondering would this work on VIX? Or could the black hole driver be used on VIX?

    Lads...

Can anyone help me on network sharing?

I can't get my Vu+ to recognise any shared folders or files on my Windows PC.

I'm running Windows 7Pro, with a whole HDD shared. Other PC's can see it.

In NetworkBrowser, the Vu can see the PC IP, but won't go anyfurther.

I'm sure it worked before in the days of OpenPLi, but damned if I can figure out what to do now. Since it worked before, Windows 7 was reinstaled on a new PC, and of course, I now use VIX, not OpenPLi, but rules shouldn't be too differrent...

    :)

Doesn't work on Vix, I've tried a similar generic tuner.

Wait and see if AverMedia A850 support is added, as this is the same chipset.

Whether the Black Hole driver couuld be ported to Vix, I don't know, someone with more knowledge of enigma2 might be able to help....

Hi guys I have a Dreambox 7000s and was considering buying this box as a replacement. How do you guys find it and I also have a few questions. the thread is so long now and Im sure there are changes every week with software updates and what not. So here it goes.

Is there a 7day EPG plugin available for channels on 28 degrees and other like 13degres and 19 degrees and is there one like the current sKy epg on a sky box?

Can this box be used to view DTT with a USB Doggle and if so can it be combined in the same channel list?

Which is the best usb doggle to use and when used with the vu-duo will it support all the channels including Rte 2HD ?

I thinking of buying this one http://www.ielektroniks.com/vu-duo.html from this site as recommened in an eariler post but does it have a hard drive or if not how difficult is it to install yourself?

It been linux based does it work similar to a dreambox?

    Thanks in advance

There is plugins available for full 7 day epg on 13, 19 and 28 which look similar to sky. Yes you can view dtt and combine it with your sat list.
I'll leave the usb dongle recomending to some one else, I dont use one

You will have to install a harddrive, tis very easy, a few screws to take the top off and it only goes into one place. No experience needed believe me
It works the same as a dreambox

3 or 4 (Rytec, SatmateUK, Open TV and direct download on other sats.)

Can this box be used to view DTT with a USB Doggle and if so can it be combined in the same channel list?

    Yes. Any Way you like.

Which is the best usb doggle to use and when used with the vu-duo will it support all the channels including Rte 2HD ?

Nova-T (various results for irish users), Sundtek Pro (best results for irish users) and others depending on the image, all i have seen on forum have rte2hd.

I thinking of buying this one http://www.ielektroniks.com/vu-duo.html from this site as recommened in an eariler post but does it have a hard drive or if not how difficult is it to install yourself?

Dont know that vendor but Easy to fit HDD yourself if its not good value and its really a must have for recording and image backup.

It been linux based does it work similar to a dreambox?

Exactly the same (images vary a little on how they look and work and some drivers vary from linux box to box but they are basically the same).

    Thanks in advance
