    Hi,
I want to get work experience during the Summer in Veterinary. I would like to work in a small animal practice and also large animal ( experience with farm animals, etc ). Is there any Vet that ye know in Galway that would be willing to take me on, just to help out and without pay ofcourse! I'm in fifth year at the moment!

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hey MaighEoAbu,
Fair play for being so proactive! I don't know about doing summer-long experience but I did about a week's experience in Glenina Veterinary in the Renmore/Mervue area for LCVP in 5th year. They're a small animal practice but I think they have another branch in Oranmore which may deal with some large animals.
Best of luck with it, hope you get something. If trying to get experience with Vets fails you could always try the GSPCA.

you could try Ark Vets in St. Mary's Road as well. they deal with small animals, but also farm animals. Give them a shout, the worst they can say is no...Good luck!

You could try popping in to Barna Vet Clinic & ask to speak to Leanne - she is not there on Wednesdays. They are very professional & extremely friendly. They have had people on work experience before. The key thing is to visit the Vet in person. Do not rely on writing or phoning them. Let them see that you are sensible, reliable & enthusiastic.

I recommend both the ARK and Barna Vets highly as I had dogs in both practises for OP's with their specialists.
