hi, i am doing a animation course in cork and finally putting my foot down to wanting to start my own animation, i have watched more than enough animation of all kinds on the net and have a basic idea to start with, i am not looking to do no kids animation because lets face it, they are crap

the animation i am aiming for is for young teens to young adults.

i am looking for people who want to make an animation... well a show reel of what the animation will be and what its about, this would be the starting point to making a series.

just to point out because this is the starting point of getting into animation i or we wont be getting paid till we make a break with the show reel and get a funding by a company who will buy or pay to see the animation on air and so on,

also if there is people with more insight to the animation world or who could give some pointers please do hehe

Not to pick holes in your post but if you make a sweeping statement like all kids animations are crap, you clearly haven't watched more than enough animation of all kinds on the net.

You seem to be confusing the animation itself and the story it is telling.

To get any quality responses to your post it'd be worth outlining what you hope to achieve with the work (rather than just getting funding) and how you hope to put it together.

What story do you want to tell? How is it different to what's already out there? Is it hand drawn, Flash, 3D or a combination?

Most animators will have being taught the importance of narrative as well as the principles of animation. Answer those questions and you should get some replies.

Best of luck with the project.

i have to agree with cosgrove. you just seem to be very vague in everything you say.

you can't just decide that you want to do an animation you need to have an idea of what the animation will be.

    how will it look?
what will the characters be like and how will they develop over time?
    what is the setting?
    what will the story be?
and above all, why will it be different enough for somebody to want to endorse it and make it a success?

you have to ask these questions and you have to come up with the idea before getting in touch with others about it. why not finish your course first and maybe run the idea by some of the others in the class before asking people you've never met to collaborate with you. people can be nightmares to work with and you have a better chance of getting a sense of that from somebody you already know.
