Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The questions on the rules of the road will be asked in the office before being taken out to your car. The examiner will sit you down, ask you to sign a document stating that your car is road worthy and has valid insurance and then he will proceed to ask you questions on road signs and general rules of the road. After which he will take you out to the car and ask you the technical checks, this will involve opening the bonnet and pointing to the various components mentioned above(* Engine Oil Level,* Coolant Level,* Windscreen Washer Fluid Level* Braking Fluid level* Power Steering Fluid Level*). Only after this is done and he has checked everything is working, ie: lights, brake lights etc, will the actual driving part of the test begin. Usually after one of the manoeuvres (turnabout, reverse around the corner). The examiner will ask you to demonstrate the hand signals.

The above is a brief description of what to expect. You can read more in THIS sticky at the top of the forum.

Given that Rathgar has the lowest pass rate in the country it would be well worth your while investing in some driving lessons, and your ADI will explain exactly what's involved and what if anything you need to work on to give yourself the best chance of passing 1st time.

Just keep driving as much as possible is my advice.Be one with the car....show that you have full control over your vehicle thats what he wants to see.And make sure you go over rules of the road and signs....I got a grade 2 for this which is just poor prepertion.
    GOOD LUCK!

Definitely get a couple of pre tests with an instructor who knows the area. They'll tell you exactly what to expect and show you everything you'll be asked to do. It will be good to have someone point out any bad habits you might have picked up and going over the Rathgar routes will be helpful for you too.
    Good Luck:)
