Sorry, but I try to see a scenario in my mind and it just sort of fades on me...

Damn it Deki, now you've raised another point to confuse me. I really can't picture them going after each other. Unless... Indy was after something buried in the AvP temple and Ripley was all "just blow the god damn thing up!" Nah, that's not even hugely plausible. Harungah.
We could just settle it all and assume we're talking about Alien Resurrection Ripley, in which case she'd just bleed on him and all would be over. Dang.
That however, would make her non-human

Fine, if they refuse to fight they both get tossed to The Rancor beast

Humans IMO have more mental capacity than the Xenomorphs. Yes, I know they've shown signs of intelligence such as using shadows well and in AR when they killed one of their own so the floor would dissolve with acid blood. But c'mon in the main they are pretty fcuking stupid. Take Aliens for example, a sea of them just kept coming and coming even though a lot of them were being taken out by the remote controlled machine guns.

Indy would have taken the Xenomorphs that Ripley did, and he wouldn't have found himself impregnated by them while doing it either. ;)

When has indy shown he could deal with countless numbers of enemies?

Xenomorphs are the ultimate killers, the ultimate prey and are tough to kill without getting hurt.

Added to that, they wanna make babies with your face.

And ripley took them down. On four seperate occasions. A task which even the mighty predators found challenging.

Indy cant even survive a nuke without a refridgerator.

    Let's look at the times Ripley has taken down Xenomorphs;

She's a natural survivor but that requires an awful amount of luck. Like having a space station full of guns and ammo to hold off Hordes (Aliens), was able to destroy the Queen by killing herself (Alien 3 - and she was fcuked anyway so bravery doesn't come into it), and was able to stay alive for so long in AR because she was connected by blood to the Queen as well as the hybrid.

Human Ripley (and we are talking about the original Ripley, this after all *is* the Human League) IMO is great, but would she have achieved what she did if all she had was a gun, a whip and her smarts? I don't think so. In a basic fight Jones IMO would win.

That's a textbook case of hive intelligence. Aliens don't give a damn about an individual xeno. It is the survival of the hive that is important. They would gladly sacrifice countless numbers of their own to simply waste the enemy's ammunition.
You are just lucky the Tyranids aren't here!

Selfless Xenos? You give the hive too much credit good sir! What about that Xeno that was wimpering like a biatch when his "hive" decided to sacrifice him in Alien Resurrection so they could escape? That Xeno didn't seem too happy to die in order for his fellow Xenos to survive! :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Look, its easy to kill one xeno, but its impossible to stop them all...which is what ripley did.

Its easy to stop nazi's...sure the allies did that no bother.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Yeah, it was an easy victory with no casualties all right. :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

    Eggsactly. Ipso facto, Ripley wins.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44,501 ✭✭✭✭Deki

Taking out all those aliens is fantastic, but that isn't who Ripley is fighting now. She's up against another human.: One that I think is quite a lot like her. Is this a fight to the death or just till one says "uncle"? ( I just don't know if she would do it- it's not that I think she couldn't.) :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Oh yeah cause Indy is all about the bloodlust

    Indy's all about the common sense;

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

One argues that Ripley wouldnt even let him play with the sword

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

    This is what happens;

Ripley and Indiana Jones are in a crappy situation where they are forced into battle. Ripley starts bitching to the devious foe who is making them fight each other, Indiana yawns and just shoots her in the back. Game over. ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44,501 ✭✭✭✭Deki

( in reference to blood lust) No I don't think he is, I don't think she is either,:( i really don't like this match up. I really think they'd be better allies than foes.( and I would like to see that) I don't think either of them actually enjoy the fight, only fight from necessity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Indy is a great character, but imo, he relies on luck while Ripley relies on ingenuity, skill and grit.

She would win out with these characteristics.

Ah here, Ripley is all about the luck. Indy has escaped from so many dodgey situations. Ripley just constantly runs. Sure she has good moments when she takes the fight to the Aliens, but normally she's trying to run away and prevent the spread by blowing stuff up. She never actually hunts the lads. She would have been dead in number 3 if it wasn't for her pregnant state.

    Hey guys,

I know the tournies are great fun and we all get wrapped up in it sometimes, but can you please try and keep the discussion about the events here in these discussion threads?
Mentioning it in the lair is grand in passing, but constantly bringing the discussion there will only get in the way of the folks who arent using the tournies enjoying the forum.

    Thanks,

    Nerin

Re: Koth and Pter's vote, that's true to a certain extent lads, but what mostly wins the day for Jack is his ability to think on his own and ignore CTU and government protocol. That's why Jack has often found himself in hot water and indeed, why he found himself up against the US Senate and possibly facing a court martial. This dude wins the day because he's a free thinker, he still managed to whoop ass in Africa without CTU, he took down entire gangs by his own FFS! :D

When I'm only now starting to watch the show, as I finally picked up series one.

And without all the intel provided by other people in the show, the first series would have been basically Jack grounding his daughter :P

If you can read this, you're too close!

Lara Croft, coz all she has to do is give him the eye, and Bauer will unload his weapon.
Gee, how did I see that coming

Lara Croft has fought, dinosaurs, aliens, monsters, demons, agents at area 51 etc. etc. etc. and come out on top.
Bauer's escapades against 'durka durka' style terrorists pale in comparison.

Really? I don't remember that, that being said I only remember the first three games, there was no freaks in them right?

Forced natural selection. The xenos kill off any weakling with 'emotions'. Keeps teh hive fighting fit.

Operation D-Day, also known as, OPeration: "Charge at them headlong, they can't possibly shoot us all!" - a tactic eerily similar to the one used by the xenos in Aliens

That reminds me, I'm going to watch Aliens Resurrection now, LZ's guilty pleasure. :pac:

EDIT Jack could do that with ease, jesus all he needs to do is shout and those pansy dinosaurs will go wimpering back to where they came from. ;)

I went with Lara on this, but really I reckon a decent shot in the face is enough to take out a dino... Lara is peppering those chaps and they're taking a long time to die. I now question her aim.

Scaly skin FTW.That's video game bosses for you. They can take an unusual amount of punishment. Heck, it takes a fair few bullets to take down Lara aswell.
