Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

ive always wanted to be a sniper but i kind of thought the irish defence forces didnt utilize them.
is there a marksmanship/sniper unit in the irish army/army ranger wing, and if so, is joining just a case of enlisting in the army and applying from there or what??

    any help greatly appreciated.

you must be a member of the Defence Forces firstly. Then you apply and go on a 3 day prelim to establish if you have the ability to pass the course.

The course itself is 7 weeks long and one of the toughest courses in the Army after Selection.

The pass rate is only about 4% of about 20 students.

So only 0.8 students pass for each 20 that try?

Your looking at 5-7 pass per class.

    How big are the classes?

Depends on how many instructors there are to instruct.. The more Instructors available, the bigger the class..

Focus on getting into the PDF and surviving Recruit Training first.

Then if you do pass out, you'll still have to serve in your Unit for 2 years before being able to apply for the Course itself.

Keep your eyes on the 25 metre target and all that.
