Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've just finished watching a 20 minute piece on Eirebhoy on TV3. His mother was interviewed live and told the whole story of his time in OZ and his death. She spoke of his many friends on the internet, she mentioned Boards and Foot.ie, and the support they gave the family. She told us how the family allowed his organs to be used and they saved the lives of 6 people. It was very sad but uplifting at the same time.

The episode should be viewable tomorrow on the TV3 website.
Look under Videos > Daily shows > The Morning Show.

Excellent stuff. Thanks OP. His mother is an absolute rock. Even in her previous interviews she was as brave and forgiving as I could ever hope to be.

Thread Stickied for a few days, he was a great contributor to the site. I'll post a link to the piece when it comes online so that all of his friends on the forum have an opportunity to view it.

I've rarely been more moved or inspired by someone's words than I was when I heard his Mam interviewed on radio only a few days after his death.

What a wonderfully dignified and genuinely decent human being, to speak the way she did in the most trying of circumstances possible. To hold no ill-will towards the guy who caused his death goes beyond any gesture I could ever comprehend.

I just seen it now. It was difficult to watch.

My heart goes out to his mother, family and anyone that knew him.

    RIP Eirebhoy.

There seems to be a continuing fault with each show. It's labelled incorrectly for the first 24/48 hours but then appears to be correct if you wait and select it from the archive. If you can't view it today, try the archive tomorrow.

It's not there at all - just Wednesday's one about the get-fit fatties and Friday's about some oscar hopeful.

I was thinking; you know the way in football some numbers are retired. Can we do the same here for user name eirebhoy?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

Well, no-one else could use that name, it's in the database.

However, it would be pretty shítty to see someone with the name "eirebhoyII" or something equally stupid.

Good interview, hopefully it'll prompt a few more to "tick the box" and donate organs.

Yes great that Eirebhoy is being remembered this way. Well done on the thread. Awful for the mother. Very hard to watch that.

Fantastic stuff. She's every bit as nice as he was.

If she reads this, or any of his family, really hope they're all doing well.

I was in school with him, he was a year behind, but I did 4th year so we were in some of the same classes together for two years. He also lived near me so I'd bump into him that odd time. Very friendly lad. Couldnt believe it when I heard the news.
