Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    one does what one can...

sadly, due to the prevailence of the fun police (a thousand curses on their filthy heads), its quite likely that while your week will be interesting, it probably won't be exciting.

expect to visit the QM's - you can practice telling people to fcuk off before you get there - MT and the nut stranglers, possibly the Armoury, SO914 (paperclips, staples and fcuk me, where did my career go?), and you might get a ride/play on something fun like a MOWAG, 105mm Light Gun or RSM.

call everyone 'mate' and you'll be popular as fcuk - and ask them if they all look old and overweight coz they're on undercover duties!

    enjoy.

its possible that they might take you down the range for a familiarisation shoot with a rifle, but i wouldn't bet on it.

if there's a field excercise on you might get to watch the guns, but again, the fun police are fcuking everywhere.

be keen, enthusiastic, and remember everything you hear and see - do ask questions, but try and avoid sounding like a nugget or a gun nut. muck in, say thanks to all the gangs you visit - and ask if you can help with whatever the hell they're doing!

I did it (Work exp) a few years ago with the Army.

Insurance (ie Fun Police) meant that officially nobody should even touch a weapon, lift anything, or basically do anything! :D

That said I have to say it was savage, the Army lads did make it really interesting, and I was lucky enough that there was artilary training on when I was in, so we got driven down to the Glen of Imal to watch them on a live fire exercise which included nighttime firing.

If anyone involved is online, thanks ;)

Never seen anyone describe an RSM as 'fun' OS :D

nah, they're a great laugh - sometimes they can be a bit po faced, but if you use the 'magic handshake' of walking across the parade ground with your hands in your pockets with your iPod on, call them 'mate' or 'razzer' and ask if you can keep your 'tour beard' now that you're back, you quickly find they are just mis-labled individuals with a fine sense of humour and a liking for cheeky fcukers!

I did my TY work experience out in Baldonnel with a few friends, and had a great time! There were ten TY students altogether, and they had the whole week structured for us, so that we saw all different aspects of the place. We couldn't go up in any of the planes/helicopters (fun police!), but it was still extremely interesting and a lot of people put a lot off effort into it to make it so. We even had a chat with the stweards on the government jet to see what their job was like! I'd say you'll have a great time s-cogan, remember to thank everyone, cos they put a lot of effort into these things (and on no account eat the fish in the canteen - I was sick for days after!)
