Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

During this week Russians are celebrating MASLENITSA - the traditional time to eat pancakes,to sing, dance and put a symbol of winter into the fire.

Why not? I would suggest do not stuck in Moscow or St.Pet. Go South.
A lot of interesting things you can discover including sea resorts, museums wich are full of arthefacts, hundreds of dolmens in Black Sea region,Russian roots(?)of Norse religion etc.

If you'll need some assistance just let me know.

Actually re: Russian culture. (on the personal note)

I've just spent 2 years re-discovering Russians as a culture. yeap. with all the beautiful abvantages and quite heavy disadvantages too! Like all this baggage one gets to carry being born into Russian culture, the conditioning and all...

e.g. how 'serious' Russians can be towards themselves and others (compare to the lightness and neutrality of the Irish when they get to know you or chat with you)..

I wonder what is your own observation? (especially in mixed marriages - Russian woman / Irish man)
p.s. pardon non-language, non-literature etc post but im pretty certain this will all link into one eventually!

Actually, you asked not about Russian culture, but, probably, what Russians are thinking about Irish culture?

Sorry,if my English is bad enough..

I'm Russian and I've found some Irish people poetic, sometimes sentimental and (my personnel opinion based on my Soviet experience) never scared by evil cruel society. This is amazing, but, perhaps, some Russians will consider this as
"inadaptability" to life. Life in Russian style,of course )

Life in Russian style in Russia and abroad too,if you are Russian,*please note:not Russian speaking, but Russian from Russia*(an outcast,"alien","non-national"[for Russian mind it sounds like "with no any nationality","invader","extraterrestrial","another race" etc] with visa-and workpermit restrictions in E.U., U.S.A. etc) is full of adventures(like "quest for fire" :) ). I would say,a lot of Russian people do not really live in these conditions, but "survive" ))) By the way this is one of the answers "why are Russians never smiling" :-)))))))))
