Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New Camera

Hey All! I'm not a professional or even an accomplished photographer but I'm getting really into photography recently and I'm looking at getting a new camera and I want a pretty decent one that's not gonna blow the bank. The problem is I don't really have much of a clue about cameras, apart from the very basics. Basically I'm looking for the best picture quality for the lowest price. That's not too much to ask for now is it?

Anyway, cameras I've been looking at are in or around 10mega pixel with between 12-15 optical zoom. Something like these two:

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/review/2008/10/24/Fujifilm-FinePix-S2000HD/p1

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/review/2009/05/19/Fujifilm-FinePix-S1500/p1

Pricewise I was hoping to come in under €200 but the more I look around the more I realise that's not really likely, unless I get a really good offer!

Just wondering if anyone could give me any advice or what you might make of the 2 cameras above? Any other good cameras you could recommend?

    Cheers for the help guys!

Look for the best price, the best accessory deal, the best extended warranty and the most gaudily-labelled megapixel number? I hate to sound so absolutely unhelpful, but from the perspective of the people who tote around a few grand of camera kit and churn our stunning photographic works on a daily basis, one 200 pound point-and-shoot camera is the almost same as the next one.

You've committed yourself to purchasing a camera. You've picked your price range and have narrowed yourself down to a choice between two models. Flip a coin to pick one and place the order.

its not the camera that makes good photographs, its the photographer.

In the stickys at the top you may notice there is an FAQ. If you go there you will find a link to this thread. Have a read there As it should answer a lot of your questions.

I think you are going down the right route looking at Bridge Cameras, and Fuji make very good ones. If want to get further into photography, & you can stretch the budget a bit further, you may want to consider looking for a model that records in RAW.

Before you go spending a couple of hundred on a bridge camera you might want to consider an entry level dslr. Just have a look and compare prices, if you are getting interested in photography it might be worth making the jump now.
