Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

my question is what is the longest rail tunnel in ireland . a debate came up in work about it ,
the only ones i found so far are

    BLARNEY CO.CORK 1355 YDS
    TUNNEL 4 , GREYSTONES , BRAY HEAD , CO WICKLOW , 1084 YDS
    BANGOR , 890 YDS

It's probably the Cork one, which is in Cork city and not in Blarney.

If they complete the rest of the "cut & cover" between Dunlaoghaire and Sandycove Dart Station it should beat that. :p

The longest rail tunnel in Ireland, although disused, is Lisummon tunnel at Goraghwood in Co. Armagh which is 1759 yards long, one yard short of a mile.

Also mentioned here along with other tunnels across the world.

Good call, its news to me i must say! Its a shame its not even used anymore, the tracks inside are probably still perfect if not for a bit of rust.

I did most of the text on this piece, but the list of railway tunnels is from elsewhere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunnels_in_Ireland

Was the Clifden line tunnel really only 89 yards long?
