I started wearing glasses about 6 months ago, I still hate them... :( It was only one of my eyes that was bad, the other one has better than 20 apparently

Lasik treatment for me. 99.5% 'normal' vision now.

Best money I ever spent, and quite possibly the most pleasant medical procedure ever (You get to see a cool light show).

I only discovered how bad my eyesight is when I went for a test for my driving license. She showed my what it would be like if I wore glasses and the letters on the chart went from blurry to crystal clear. I was surprised. Still my eyesight is good enough for driving so I don't need to wear glasses. But I'd say it's only a matter of time. Both my parents wear them.

Tldr; Anyone else think the OP was asking if you wear a bra by the title?

I'm short-sighted. I wear glasses for reading, driving, labs, and for small penises.

I wear glasses (I'm longsighted) and I'd prefer them to contacts. Wouldn't even consider laser eye surgery to be honest.

I love my glasses but wear contacts for special occasions.... :D No interest in laser surgery!

Well this just ruins any chances of trying to dispel stereotypes

I'm surprised so few have had lasik/lasek treatment. I would have thought it was much more common.

Well I don't really ever want to have pleasure of getting the smell of my eyeball burning... :P

Apparently I have better than 20-20 vision, yet I still use glasses for reading  Maybe my optician was just trying to make money out of me by selling me glasses

I used to wear contacts everyday when I was in 6th year but now that I've come to college I've become too lazy to put them on. They are on the expensive side too(I must try out one of the online retailers) Plus my girlfriend prefers me with them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,175 ✭✭✭Red_Marauder

I've technically had glasses since I was about ten, but I've never worn glasses in public or class, only when studying in private.

I don't know why but I just have a very vain aversion to them. Every one of my six siblings are supposed to wear glasses but just like me, nobody does. I've only ever worn contacts while playing sports, otherwise I get along well enough without any optical help.

20/20, possibly better. But I'm as a deaf as a deaf thingy so it evens itself out.

Actually, my eyesight was deteriorating steadily and severely until I reached the age of 11 / 12, at which point it stabilised.

I will leave you to work out the relevance to your comment for yourself ...

Lolz. Mostly glasses-wearing nerds here and I include myself in that; unsurprising.

You can hold your nose! :p

And there's no burning with Lasik. It just evaporates the surface of the eye.

Laser eye surgery baby! Best money I've ever spent! :)

Never needed glasses - most of my family do though. It's because I had corrective surgery when I was very little which gave me super vision powers! Seriously though, it caused my eyesight to become stronger than average, which is handy - e.g. for reading number-plates rapidly disappearing out of sight etc.
