@simonp1 HDR - NO! It's way too overcooked.

Not too sure about that Simon....

The HDR is very overdone. I use HDR myself and you have to try to be subtle with it. Are you using photomatix? I'd keep most of the settings at their default (low) settings. Strength maybe at 60-70%, smoothing at it's highest. Can't remember the other sliders....

Also, HDR's always need work in PS after. Saturation and contrast have to be adjusted etc.

Nah, the more I look at it the more I feckin' hate it. It really is a boring, uninteresting, badly thought out shot. I'm going to shoot that flower tomorrow.

Edit: Actually, that's not a bad idea. Might change things if it was riddled with shotgun pellets!

I don't think either are looking well yet. There is a halo over the mountains in the 2nd version which doesn't sit well, and it's still very 'overcooked'.

I'm no expert on mastering the HDR technique but I know what looks good and bad.

I've never even attempted HDR so am no expert either so thats why the original image - 4th image down on page 23 is the one that really works for me

Normal eyes look boring, don't you think?

I Screened, Saturated, and Sharpened them. I don't usually go this far though, but for the style of this image I think it suits.

The world revolves around her. From her POV anyhow. Probably mine too Trooney was doing this type of thing with some city scape's a while back. I wanted to do some compositing and was looking for something suitable for this image of her. This is what I came up with in the end.
