Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Accessing hard drive(s) makes Windows hang?

Heres an odd one which I don't even know where to start with. I recently upgraded my PC and installed Windows 7 64 bit. I have my OS and apps running of my main hard drive and all my other files like pictures, music etc on other hard drives. There is no problems with my main hard drive but everytime I go to initially access a file on one of my storage hard drives it hangs for a few seconds(around 2-5) before I get a response. It only happens the first time so once the drive is open and a file has been accessed then its fine.

I'm thinking it may be some sort of setting in Windows 7 because I never had problems like this in XP. Maybe its some sort of indexing thing but google isn't really bringing back much of use.

Use the Filter option (Ctrl-L) and add the drive letter you're having issues with. You know exactly what's going on. Use the 'Contains' option ni the dropdown

Could be spinning-down (to save power) after a period of inactivity.

I'd say this is the most likely explanation. There is probably an option to disable power saving but it may not be healthy for the hard drive to keep it constantly spinning and ready to go. I'll check out that Process Monitor program as well to see if its something else. Cheers
