Quick battery question

Just got a 6700 brand new off adverts, collected it about an hour ago. Put it on for its first charge and 40 mins later its telling me to unplug it as its full.. that can't be right can it? It's been so long since I bought a brand new phone that I don't know how long to charge it up first... Surely I thought it would be a…
