You take them out and they'll usually close up, once you don't stretch them too high. The generally accepted size after which a stretched piercing will not fully close is 10mm (mine are currently 8mm). However this can vary. When I was 15/16 and I first started stretching my ears, I completely disregarded this, thinking I would never outgrow my "rebel against the world" phase, and ended up stretching them to 18mm. After having 18mm for a while and getting sick of them I just took them out for two years, and they were almost fully closed, I could wear normal earrings in them but I didn't. Then, just a couple of months ago, I decided I wanted to stretch back up to 8mm, just to have something small and not very noticeable but still a bit different.
For example, the person in the picture above's ear will almost certainly close up completely.

Since I can't find a picture of it, I'll just have to make do with a less-than-vivid description I got myself a rather nice Tommy Hilfiger hoodie the other day, which was down to half price from January sales. 'twas pricey enough still, but it's lovely and cosy and well worth it
