Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

Im going to buy either a Pajero Sport or a sorento and I'm wondering what people think of the two?
I know the Pajero is probably a better machine but the fuel consumption seems to be quite high.
I have read that the Sorento would do around 36 miles per gallon
and the Pajero Sport would only do 26 miles per gallon.

The jeep will only be used for light work and not towing.

    Cheers
    Dermo

I'd go with the Sorento. Nicer jeep. Was only a passenger in a Pajero Sport and it seemed dire to be honest. You can get very nice spec Sorento's too

    So buy a car instead.

Sorrento is a lot better, but buy whatever you want, not what some anti-SUV people want :D

    Thanks lads.

I want a commercial jeep instead of a car because I do alot of fishing, surfing etc so it can be used to sleep in for trips.

Check if the load area of the Sorento is long enough for you to sleep in / carry a surfboard. If it's not then that's the only reason I'd recommend the Pajero Sport over the Sorento - well that and the sound system in the Mitsi.

I had a Pajero Sport Commercial for around 9 months. It's noisy, thirsty and pretty damn uncomfortable for long journeys. It's easy to control a tail slide around a roundabout (on private land only), but they can bite back - I've seen the aftermath of at least 3 which rolled.

Only briefly drove a Sorento so can't comment too much, but I'd be surprised if it's as bad as a Pajero Sport to drive.

    Thats a brutal lie.

Are you accusing me of tail sliding 2 Ton's of Japenese Pig Iron on a public highway? How dare you young man, I've never been so insulted in all my life.

(well, not since last time you insulted me :D

Thats exactly what I'm accusing you of good sir.

Oh BTW, I'd go for the Sorento.

The Pajero Sport is an L200 pickup with a passenger body, the Kia will be miles better in almost every facet.

Sorrento is the way to go, pajero is fairly long in the tooth at this stage. Neither handle brilliantly but the KIA is the better option.
Does it have to be one of those 2? What about something like an X-Trail and the like?
Not much smaller and more car like to drive.

The first generation Kia Sorento has a ladder frame too (as opposed to some other modern SUVs with monocoque bodies), so isn't too far off in that respect.

i dislike the Paj Sport, but the steering and gear change in the Sorento is woeful. I'd still take the Kia though.
