Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just taken delivery of this lot.

    104771.jpg

    Nikon F4s & 20mm f2.8 AF Lens.

Absolute mint condition. Has probably only had few (leas than 10) films through it ever.

Goddamnit ! when you said you were getting the F4 you didn't say you were getting it mint and boxed :D Mine has definately been through the wars, but it's mechanically sound so that's the only thing that matters really I guess. I also had to get the F4s battery holder (the smaller battery holder that turns an F4 into an F4s) seperately for mucho bucks. Stick some lithiums in there and you'll be good to go for a year or more.

How much did you shell out for the body if you don't mind me asking ?

All I see are some boxes so can't pass comment until I see more...

Not that I'm a Nikon fan anyway, as my name suggests ;)

and a 20mm 2.8! I've mostly given up on getting one after buying a faulty one on ebay

    The F4 Body, MB-21 Battery Grip & 20mm 2.8 were €370.

I have to get some film into it. Cannot work out how the Portrait Shutter button works yet or how the film back opens.

    It is very nice.

Ah right, I had my battery packs mixed up, the F4s is the F4 with the MB-21 (6 battery) battery pack. That's what I got originally, then I got the MB-20 which is a smaller 4 battery pack which is a huge improvement in handling and weight (at least stuffed with lithiums). Fantastic price incidentally, I've seen those 20mm f/2.8's go for more than that on E-bay :)

Back opens by pulling up the film rewind handle, but first you have to slightly turn a little spring loaded nubbin just below the handle to unlock it.

Portrait shutter button is probably locked, there's an unlock switch on the button itself, just turn it until a red dot is shown (or not shown, I can never remember which one, I never use my MB-21)

    -edit-

Third picture , "Film back release lever", you turn that in the direction of the arrow then pull up on the film rewind knob and the back should pop open.

There are some other Nikon Lenses, an F501 Body & some other bits & bobs available from the same source. Not advertised yet, so PM me & I can put you in touch if you want any details.

    I know she has a 50mm f1.4 Manual, 50mm f1.8 AF and a 24mm f2.8 AF in the list.

I'll have to say I was expecting something pretty from a visual perspective, and I'm just not getting that from this camera. That prism looks awful.

I'm sure it's a great camera and will take great pictures but "lovely" she ain't

Tried that in both positions, so it's a case of RTFM.

I have the 4 Battery pack on it as well. So all is good.

There seems to be a problem with your linked photo's...

Not sure what reason I should use to lock this thread.

Is it NSFW gear porn alert.

    or

Nikon user alert stay away Canon users.

I am sure it's Mother loves it too. I think it looks lovely, not as sleek as the modern bodies but it has that solid look that the F series had.

zuikofan is dead, long live duffarama!! I'm back

I don't appreciate modern bodies either, see Daire's photo, the FE2 is a pretty camera, the F4 looks ugly and unwieldy but as my alter ego said earlier if it takes great pictures, who cares?

heh, I thought you were jumping into the thread to defend your fellow olympus fanboy :D

I think the F4 looks really gorgeous, particularly with the smaller MB-20, and with a big prime mounted on the front. There's a smooth industrial aesthetic to it that I really like.

I'm no fanboy, apart from the fact that I have 5 cameras and 4 are made by Olympus! Not at all a fanboy...

I just prefer smaller cameras, purely a personal thing, everybody is different after all
