Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Keeper would need to have been 7ft to have gotten a hand to that.

Twas coming. We look slow in midfield with Giggs and Scholes, who normally make up for with good passing but its not there.
Yep, it's been pretty much all Villa so far, very slack from Utd.

    Ye've mastered the art.

Would that make Own Goals more prolific than Owen Goals this season?

Rooneys passing is way off tonight, and his usual sprinting to make up for mistakes is gone too.

Nani is a waster, that performance against Arsenal simply papered over the cracks. Come on Villa!

Can't say that deserved red myself, yellow would have been sufficient.

Think the crowd made that a red.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 32,865 ✭✭✭✭MagicMarker

I actually don't think it was a red.

9th highest goalscorer in the league this season, Our OG is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Like, I know it was dangerous, but it wasn't malicous. He clearly got the ball, and to be honest, didnt get much of the player.

Annoying :/ Gona be a real real test, need to get Valencia on right quick imo. Or Berbatov and put Rooney on the wing.

    Hope it's not a 3 game ban.

    what happened ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 527 ✭✭✭EI111

Anybody else think that's not a red card?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

My opinion he had to go.

    His foot was to high.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,648 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

Sounds like a cracking game though.

I'd say the ref's hands were tied by the laws of the game,

Both his feet were off the ground, but it wasn't a lunge.

He got a big bit of the ball and to be honest not a terrible amount of the man.

If it was a straight red card, then it's a 3 game ban. Unless he appeals and it gets rescinded though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,110 ✭✭✭KevR

Nani will be a big loss for the rest of this game and for the 3 games he misses.

He jumped in to the tackle, not quite two footed, won the ball but the fact that he jumped it looked a lot worse than it was imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Both feet were off the ground, but it was still a one footed tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Cracking effort from Carrick

I haven't seen it so I'm trying to be fair, but the ruling isn't based on 2 feet in the tackle, it's 2 feet off the ground, all your weight will be on the first foot to make contact.

Fantastic strike from Carrick, brilliant from Friedel too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,003 ✭✭✭✭The Muppet

dangerous tackle , straight red every day of the week.

Our 10 men are playing well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,432 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Another case of common sense being thrown out the window by a referee. That said, I might be singing a different tune if it was a Villa player who did it...

There is a thin line between a red and not a red in those tackles but I don't think he crossed it...

Two goals and a sending off, compared to absolutely nothing happening in the 'Pool v Arsenal game..good choice Sky.
