Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Maybe Anelka? I'm not sure if he would get the votes, but more options are good i suppose

    2002 → Liverpool (loan) 20 (4)
    2002–2004 Manchester City 89 (37)
    2006–2008 Bolton Wanderers 53 (21)
    2008– Chelsea 72 (28)

Henry and Shearer for me with Van Nistlerooy on the bench ,

    but

I would have loved to see Bergkamp putting the strings just behind Drogba , that would have been fantastic pairing IMO.

Bergkamp was a classy player if ever there was one. Would make a very strong case for his inclusion.

Can we clear this up. Two stories going around about why he doesnt like to travel via airplanes. One journalist joked about a bomb being on plane (thats the wiki story) and Lee Dixons claim that there was a problem with the engine.

    henry and shearer.

    with bergkamp just behind.

    then RVN.

    then Drogba and Rooney.

    imo.

(btw Zola should maybe be in the list, and definitely not Arshavin)

How can you remove the time factor when we're judging who the best players have been over a decade? The guy doesn't have a full season of Premiership football under his belt.

This team of the decade is hilarious.

    Torres and Fowler

    2007-2008

He missed 5 league games but I'd still count it as a full season.

46 apps and 33 goals in all comps.

Henry and RVN/Drogba. Shearer and Bergkamp were at their peak in the 90's. I agree with the 3 years min also.

LOL at including Arshavin here and not in the wingers poll.

He's been here jsut over a year and played maybe a grand total of 10 games up front, where he was useless.

    Henry + Shearer/RVN

not in the top-tier of strikers i'm afraid.

    in fact, not even close.

Yeah he is, he is well up there. If we are counting Arshavin even in it, Di Canio should win it.

Di Canio is a lot better than some of the people mentioned here.

I think Mark Viduka deserves an honourable mention. Almost a goal every other game for Leeds until 2004, and a similar record at 'Boro until 2007.

Has to be Henry and RVN for me though.

only Bay is counting Arshavin, cause of the hammering he got over the CM poll.

Di Canio isn't even close to Henry, Bergkamp, Ruud, Shearer et all. A very good player, but not close to them as a striker over the decade.

For the decade we are talking about, he could really only be considered on 2 seasons, where he wasn't even that amazing. A player capable of the amazing though, sure.

I am going to have to disagree even at Charlton when he left West Ham he made them look a much better team than they are, people were always quick to dismiss his Charlton days but he was brilliant there. He is one of those that if Liverpool or United or whoever had of picked him up he would of been as good as the names mentioned above unfortunatly he never got the chance so its always just put down that he wasn't good enough.

    what Mitch said.

plus he never played for Italy.

and the poll, should be, imo,

RVN, Shearer, Henry, Bergkamp, Rooney, Drogba, Hasselbaink, Anelka, Zola.

Zola left Chelsea in 2003. Hardly worth it over Heskey considering Heskey's record for the decade as a whole

No way should Heskey be anywhere near Team of the decade. He wouldn't get in Liverpool team of the decade, or Villa's or Wigan's or Birmingham's.

I would push for Di Canio ahead of Hasselbaink in all honesty.

    not a f*cking hope.

you've more chance of replacing Zola, given he only had a couple of years in the Premiership in the decade.

    Hasselbaink was a scoring machine.

better than a goal every 2 games for Chelsea from 2000-2004.

almost a goal every two for Boro from 2004-2006.

    then waned.

but that's an extremely productive 6 years.

Well then Anelka would have to go to seeing as Jimmy was a more prolific scorer in the Premiership.

Hasselbaink - 219 games, 105 goals (all comps)

Anelka - 234 games, 90 goals (all comps)

Di Canio - 136 games, 47 goals (all comps, includes 1999/2000 season)

    2002/2003 - 35 games 19 goals
    2003/2004 - 29 games 16 goals
