Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

signed up for these 2 along with the Tramore one.
I've only done individual legs of triathons before so it's new territory for me.

The first 5km run in the Fenor one has a steep enough hill c. 2.5km. Be warned.

Was looking at the match for the fenor map. I cant work out where the transition area is? Is it the pub in Fenor village or around the car parks where the lakes are?

Is the bad hill around the lakes region by any chance, i know theres a nasty one around there?

Transition is in the church car park - the one you mentioned by the lakes. The hill is up at the lake alright, its not that bad and there's a good downhill after it:D

Very enjoyable Spokes Duathlon on Sat morning in Tramore.Weather was perfect and a welcome break from the baltic like Phoenix Park recently.Had a near miss when a car decided to do a right turn as i was going downhill against it on the outward bike leg but managed to stay on.Happy to pass about 10 on the final run and come in about 58mins.Nice to have an open road compared to all the twists in the Phoenix Park.No results up yet but some pics here :

Did my first duathlon in galway yesterday, it was handy one to start, 4k run, 13k cycle (was meant 2b 20k but they changed it?) and then 4 run ....found the last 4k impossible but was happy to get across the finish line :D A lot of the run was field running/forest trail and didnt like that at all, will have to get used to this though im thinking  !!!

I'm really looking forward to the buterstown one now, hopefully will up the running fitness some more before it. The hill from Joan O mahony riding school will be bit of a drag but from what i can see its the only hill really! Pretty flat course!!!

Do you know if there are any results for this anywhere hawkwing? I finished in about 51 minutes. I've signed up for Fenor and Butlerstown but am not looking forward to them. I found that much harder than I expected at the weekend.

Signed up to this tonight! First time trying a multi sport event, but have entered a couple of triathlons in the summer! thought some duathlons were the best place to get some practice! Plus it is an excuse to go home and see the folks, :D;)!!

Is the website accurate? less than 40 people entered, was hoping to be more anonymous in the crowd, :)!!

The figure of 40 is for people who have entered both waterford duathlons, there's about another 40 who have just entered butlerstown on its own. There will be more entering on the day as well - should be about 100 doing it so plenty of people to beat:D

The section on the back road parallel to the main cork rd is a bit lumpy nothing too bad though.

Did the Butlerstown duathlon yesterday for the first time and the longest duathlon i've done yet,5/20/3k. Thought people went off a bit quick but maybe the field was of better quality than in Tramore.Don't know my split times yet but was tired enough entering transition, started ok on the bike but after the first left the wind hit bigtime and i had little control of the bike, then after the next roundabout an uphill section which i stormed up passing 7-8 but needless to say 5-6 of them passed me going back down as the wind and my bike handling let me down again.Did 3 laps which was basically a case of making gains going up every hill and losing it all going downhill.Started the last run feeling ok and passed 3-4 quickly but then the field was well spread out, caught another 3 and a group of 4-5 were just too far ahead but it was nice to make some ground at the end and wished there was another 2-3 miles left :( Bananas and water were welcome at the end of a well organised race.Found it windy though which spoiled my bike section a bit and came in about 81mins.Too tired to face the AliveOutside one today after it but would do this again.:)

Doing Fenor tomorrow.Does anyone have any idea what the course is like as i've never been there but heard rumours of a big hill on the first run.

Weather should be ok :"Tomorrow will begin bright in eastern counties, but otherwise the day will be mostly cloudy. Outbreaks of rain will arrive in the southwest during the morning, before spreading east to all areas later in the day as southerly winds freshen. Highest temperatures will range 14 to 17 degrees."

There is a bit of a hill on the in the first run alright. Its spreads out the field nicely:D

Don't start off too hard and you'll be grand. The first 1 km or so is flat.

There's a couple of drags on the bike but nothing too bad and the 2nd run is flat as a pancake so you can put the hammer down as soon as you get out on it.

Hopefully the rain will stay away alright.

    best of luck.............

Very enjoyable outing in Fenor and the weather just about held up if a little windy. first run was tough enough and mainly uphill, cycle was grand--last few km were a bit bumpy but no potholes and roads not too busy.Didn't make any ground on the last run but happy to come in about 1'17".Bananas very welcome at the end of a very well organised event which i will do again for sure :)
