can get woods at +1 to beat westwood in the 3rd round at 10/11!!!
obviously a mistake coz woods is 8/15 in the draw no bet handicap. get on it before they fix it :D

+1 means he is giving westwood a shot head start.

if woods hits a 68 today u have to add the 1 on so his score becomes a 69

I have Westwood added to a couple of horses from earlier this week. If he wins the Masters, I win $2000.

I have never used Betfair. Can anyone suggest the best plan of attack to cover myself in this situation? Would BF be the best option?

    Thanks.

betfair/betdaq, it depends how much you want to win, you can gurantee yourself €620ish by laying him €620 @3.2

I just did a better calculation. I was lucky on some accumulators, paid very little as had a 16/1 horse mixed in. If Westwood wins I win about $2560.

If I want to split it down the middle so I can get $1200 or so back, what is the best way on BF?

    Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Juwwi

to split down the middle u have to wait and hope he hits 2.0
and then have €1250 in your betfair account to lay him at 2.0.

2.0 is even money on betfair just incase u didnt know

If I lay at 2.56, I am liable for $2560 to win $1000

So I win $2564 at LB if he wins, if not I win $1000 on BF . Is that right?

I missed it and he's gone back up to 2.9 now. Need to wait and see what the next few holes bring!

    No if you lay 1000 @ 2.56 you're liability is 1560.

Westwood hit a low of 1.96, with Leftie on fire he won't be that low again today anyway whatever about tomorrow!

    No if you lay 1000 @ 2.56 you're liability is 1560.

For some reason I seem to have a difficult time putting the back/lay process in my mind. If he backs at 2.56 and puts up 1000, when he wins do I have to give him 2560 from my account? Or 1560

Maybe I am seeing it wrong and that's why I didn't jump when I should have.

Are you saying that if he backs at 1000, I only return 1560 from my account to him? That makes more sense, but when I first looked at it, I was thinking I had to pay out 2560 from mine.

Thanks for the help, still a little confusing to me here.

( I think the part I forgot is that he has to put 1000 of his money up for the wager, then 1560 comes from me if he wins)

    2.0 is even money

    2.5 is 6/4

You only see his 1000 if you win so you're only ever liable for the 1500.

Back into around 2.5 after second to par 5 15th.

You're liability will be 1560 which is what you pay out which will
put you 1k up after your othere winnings
he loses you lose the grand on betfair assuming your laying 1k
    and make 1560 profit
sorry bout that..even i got my wires crossed

yes its 1560 if u lay at 2.56.

u can put up a lay at odds and keep ur bet up in running and then hope some1 takes it that way u dont have to be keep checking the odds

edit u can ring up and place a bet with a ph operator it might be safer 4 u that way u can explain what odds u want 2 lay at 2 the operator just 2 lessen the chance of a mistake

    Morning all,

Just looking at betting on PP. Ian Poulter is currently 40/1. Ricky Barnes is 50/1.

I'm thinking of backing Ian Poulter e/w at those odds. I think they are quite generous or is that just me. Thoughts??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Everyone knows that Poulter can put a run together and if he does could easily give the leaders a scare, it must be a decent e/w bet at those prices. However Ricky Barnes is 100/1 on the same score....

edit - PP are only playing to 2 places! Only worth a very small flutter I gues then...:(

My heart jumped for a second, Hunter 100/1. I thought they were crazy odds for 6 places, explains it anyway only paying out on 2. Thanks.

I've stuck 25 cents e/w (50c) on Couples, Poulter, Barnes and Hunter Mahan for the laugh.

i think KJ is the dark horse to watch out for!! Can't see poulter ever winning a major and this could be westwoods best/last chance to win one... but i don't think he has the nerve for it, short game not reliable enough under pressure

I agree, KJ had a nice solid round but playing with Tiger again today may bring some extra pressuer. I think Westwood has a great chance but needs a good start. He will never have a better chance then today to win a Major.

i dont see him messing up but i fear
an in form mickleson could blow anybody away

Unfortunately I missed the boat on laying Westwood at evens. I backed Mickelson at 2.37 for 300 then backed him at 3 for 250. I also had some earlier bets riding on him so ended up with a profit but wished I had known the ins and outs of Betfair before.

Oh well, live and learn.. and happy to have still gotten a profit off what was originally a losing bet.

Not only does Tom Segal tip horses, but now golfers too!! :D

l got a biit carried away and did too many so if l win it wont be threw skill
but l have kj choi at 66/1 kim at 40/1 and yang at 150/1 all each way so l should have a good interest for at least tonight and hopfully tomorrow..

must say lm impressed with kims putting so far he looks confident with every putt he takes ..

l taught kj was going to win it going into the back 9 on sunday.

l think kim could be one to follow in future majors if he can improve his driving he looks a winner waiting to happen.
