    Hi,

I've just enrolled in the above course with Fás but am having second thoughts.

I think it is a little out of date to be putting the effort into learning it. We are moving towards .NET 4.0 now (in Beta) and Visual Studio 2010.

I was just reading here that the exam will count as credit towards Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): .NET Framework 2.0 Windows Applications

I don't think this is much to be aiming for as I would like to be aiming for at least .NET 3.0.

I am thinking of calling Fás and asking them will they cover the fee for the newer exams if I can get the content myself?

Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

    Thanks..

This will be a bit of a yes and no answer.

Yes its better to certifying on 3.5 rather than 2 but the exams for 4.0 are expected to go live in June. If you fancy doing them for free you can do the .NET 4.0 exams in beta between March 31 and April 20 (more info here

If you are going to certify on .NET 3.5 you need 70-536 which can be covered in the 2.0 course if they do cover that part.

70-536 is a sperate course on the ecollege website. It's the "Application Development Foundation" exam.

I'll stick with what I'm at for the moment and try and get it done asap. Then move onto 70-536, I suppose it's better than nothing. Correct?

Tis that and what you learn in .NET 2.0 will be supplemented in .NET 3.5 and 4.0 so its no biggie
