Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Match of the day talking about Nanis sending off last night were talking about rule changes and that under the old rules it wouldn't have been a sending off. When were these supposed changes?

I always assumed, for the last few years anyway, that if you go in two footed you run an extremly high risk of being sent off.

tow footed tackles, and off the ground lunges, are supposed to be straight reds i think. As are tackles from behind. However, we do see the refs let them go with yellows (or nothing at all) on occasion as refs are inconsistent in their application of the rules.

Guys on Sky last night were saying it was a harsh red, but for me it was a red all day long. no complaints about it.

    + 1

At full speed the challenge was a nasty one and I think the ref got it spot on. Red for me anyway.

Cattermole had a very similar one the other night at Fulham and i dont think he can complain about his second booking, it could have eaasily being a straight red had he not being booked already.

don't think it was nasty,it was too footed but IMO he actually got the ball first.

back to my point was there actually new rules made or just directives that certain tackles wil be punished?

I've a feeling it was around 98, in the run up to the world cup. There were a lot of changes to the rules around then, most famously the tackle from behind was finally banned (a change which the English detested at the time).

Yeah, it was from the World Cup 98 that the sliding tackle from behind was banned.
