The process of turning the Citizens' Initiative from the very rough framework established by Lisbon into a functioning mechanism for European legislative initiatives continues.

There's a Hearing on the 22nd in Brussels, to which those who submitted CI proposals were invited, and which will apparently be webcast - that should be available from here:

    http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/secretariat_general/citizens_initiative/index_en.htm

You can also find the submissions there - there's only about 325 in all, 150 of them from individuals.

As far as I know, the hope is that the Initiative can be given a fully functional legislative basis within the year.

    cordially,
    Scofflaw
