My boyfriend is 30 in two weeks and I'd like to have a special cake made for him with either an edible version of his car on top or the cake made in the shape of the car. Does anyone know anywhere in Tralee I could get this made. I've tried a couple of the bakeries but they weren't able to do it.

    Hi Sabrielle,

Depending on the type of cake you want and the amount of detail involved cakes like this can take a lot of time which is why most bakeries don't bother. They can be very expensive in terms of time and sometimes ingredients.

If you're still interested after that :p Let me know what type of car you're thinking of (some are easier than others) and I may be able to point you in the right direction. I know someone who can do exactly this kind of cake in Tralee but she doesn't really advertise it because people expect them to cost the same as any bog standard cake you'd pick up in a supermarket.

Thanks for the responses. Like Spadina mentioned above these types of cakes do take a lot of time, can be tricky and are expensive. I eventually found a retired lady who does these sorts of projects. The birthday is in two weeks which luckily was just enough time for the lady to have the cake ready, so now thats the cake sorted yay. There is also a company called creativecakes 35 minutes from Tralee that would be able to do it but they said they would need more notice than two weeks.

Well its because they are too busy as it isn't a particularly big business and they do a lot of wedding cakes etc. so thats why they weren't able to do it in the time I needed it. Obviously they wouldn't be two weeks actually making the cake lol. They might also just not have wanted to do it so they could just have said they were too busy

The big hold-up is that once a "car" cake's been finished, it will have to booked in for an NCT. I'm surprised that Carchaeologist doesn't know this.
