Great end to the first race.
Jimmie Johnson does it again! By 0.006 seconds.

Can't wait for Sunday, have some friends over who've never watched NASCAR so should be interesting!

Here's the field for Daytona, really pushing for Mark Martin:

Yup, though it's the only race they've got the rights for this year. Can't wait either. :)

Cracking Duels, hope the 500 is half as good. Shame the 500 is the only live race we get this year :(

I'm hoping the 500 will be interesting, although for some strange reason I'm predicting another case of someone being turned en route to the flag, yet this time while being turned they actually cross the line first and win regardless :P

Only when I can't watch it on Sky. :pac: I think the stream I usually watch is NascarPovver.

Nascarpower (or whatever his current variant is because he gets shut down so often) is what I usually watch them on as well.

    Hope he's there this Sunday!

Great finish, i thought for sure it was Bodine's race.

The Nationwide race was good until the crash that took out everyone behind Stewart, pretty much handing him the win. Scary one that, with Junior upside down infront of the pack

Too reminiscent of what happened to Mark Martin at... 'dega? last fall.

Other than the interruption it's been a bloody great race so far.

    another red ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,798 ✭✭✭speedboatchase

Great ending but what a farce - a bloody pothole?! Had friends over to watch this to convince them of Nascar, needless to say this wasn't the race to do it - they were in my house 7 hours!

aye pity about the delays but the ending more than made up for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,801 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Oh, it ended? I fell asleep halfway through because of the long red delays... Potholes, seriously.

I may be taking you up wrong on your sentiment but its not a rare event to have a track breaking up and it happens in all forms of racing, do you remember the farce at Montreal in 2008 with the track constantly breaking up at two or three corners? I know its easy for us F1 fans to look down our noses at NASCAR but in this case fans shouldn't be inclined to.

I've seen events where the track has broken in some ways or another, like as you said Montreal '08, or China '05. But in both those events, there was very little disruption to the race itself. But stoppages lasting about two hours, when the race itself is already 3.5-4 hours, is just a joke. Fell asleep because there wasn't any action (and I was already tired as it was).

Feck it anyway, thought Jr. had the momentum to get by Mc Murray on the last. Great end to an incredibly long race though, made the long slog worth it.:)
