Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Memory upgrade for DELL Dimension 4500 ?

    Evening all

I have the above since 2002 and am looking to upgrade it - so the chisellers can get some use out of it :) - so I was thinking of adding some memory to it.
It has currently 512Mb DDR RAM, each 256 Mb, one of which is 256MHz, the other 333 MHz (if that makes any difference ?).
I was thinking of simply buying two 512 Mb cards and slotting them in, but just thought I'd double-check before I went and bought them.
Is this OK to do ? I read another thread here where things went poof! on some poor punter so I just want to be sure.
It seems cheap enough (http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_11&products_id=104027) but if anyone can suggest a similar price here in Ireland, I'll buy local instead !!
    Ta folks
    C

according to crucial.com your machine can support up to 1gig of memory 2x512 :

    512MB 184-pin DIMM

    • Module Size: 512MB
    • Package: 184-pin DIMM
    • Feature: DDR PC2700
the above was copied and pasted from crucial.

    happy upgrading.
